Kerry Washington married San Francisco 49ers cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha on June 24 in Blaine Coutry, Idaho, and has managed to keep the nuptials a secret – until now.

The Scandal star’s marriage to the 31-year-old athlete was first reported by gossip website TerezOwens.com on Tuesday. Washington, 36, and Asomugha have apparently been seeing each other since summer 2012, according to the site, although no one has seen them together in the year since they started dating.

The pair reportedly filed for a marriage license in Idaho, and had Washington’s parents serve as the witnesses."It has been recorded in the Blaine County clerk's office that Nnamdi Asomugha and Kerry Washington have been married on the 24th of June in the town of Hailey, Idaho," a representative for the clerk's office told Us Weekly.

Washington has been involved in a number of projects since 2001’s Save the Last Dance first introduced her to a wide audience, including Ray, Mr. & Mrs. Smith and The Last King of Scotland. However, it wasn’t until she was tapped for Shonda Rimes' political drama series Scandal and her role in the Oscar-nominated Django Unchained that she truly achieved superstar status.

Prior to playing for the 49ers, Asomugha played eight seasons for the Oakland Raiders and two seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. He was drafted following his graduation from UC Berkeley in 2003. Alongside his football career, Asomugha has managed to find time to dabble in both acting (The Game, Friday Night Lights, Leverage) and activism (Clinton Global Initiative).

Washington was previously engaged to actor David Moscow, who played the young Josh Baskin to Tom Hanks' older looking Josh Baskin in Big!.
