Kerry Washington cracked a smile while shooting scenes for Scandal in Los Angeles Tuesday.
For the day on the Scandal set, Washington was clad in a beige plaid wool overcoat, fitting the style aesthetic of her D.C. fixer character Olivia Pope. Her character’s look was completed with a pair of pleated dress pants and nude colored high heels. Her hair was styled in loose curls as she stood on the steps of a courthouse.
In other scenes, similarly filmed outside of a courthouse, Washington was dressed in a double-breasted blue jacket. More interesting than her wardrobe was the appearance of Cornelius Smith Jr., who appeared to be reprising his role as neighborhood activist Marcus Walker on Scandal.
Smith last appeared in the Ferguson-inspired episode “The Lawn Chair,” in which his character Marcus questioned Olivia’s role in the DC police scandal wherein an officer shot a black teenager. In the scene shot on Tuesday, it looked as though the two had mended their relationship and that Olivia might be serving as Marcus’ campaign manager, as she stood off to the side of a podium while he delivered a speech to the assembled press.
When Scandal returns this Thursday, it will be with the much-anticipated episode “It’s Good To Be Kink,” which features Lena Dunham as a guest star. In the episode, Girls creator Dunham will play the author of a Washington, D.C. tell-all/erotic novel.
Scandal airs Thursdays on ABC at 9/8c.
