Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attend a photo call at Kensington Palace to mark their engagement
Kensington Palace announced more information about the royal wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on Monday morning.
The wedding will take place at 12 p.m. GMT on May 19 of this year – the date had been previously announced, but not the exact time. The wedding will take place at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, and will be officiated by the Dean of Windsor, the Right Reverend David Conner and the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby.
In addition, the royal family revealed the route along which the procession will take place following the ceremony. The newlyweds will plan to leave Windsor Castle in a carriage and move along High Street and through the town of Windsor, just 25 miles outside of London. They will then return to the castle via the Long Walk.
“They hope this short journey will provide an opportunity for more people to come together around Windsor and to enjoy the atmosphere of this special day,” said a statement from Kensington Palace, Harry and Markle’s current place of residence.
While St. George’s Chapel has housed many royal weddings in the past, all of Harry’s immediate family members were wed elsewhere in London. His father and mother, Prince Charles and Princess Diana, were married at St. Paul’s Cathedral in 1981. Prince William and Kate Middleton wed at Westminster Abbey in 2011.
