Kenny Clutch’s alleged killer has been identified as Ammar Harris, who allegedly fired shots at the up-and-coming rapper’s Maserati after the pair engaged in a heated argument.
The Las Vegas District Attorney’s Office charged Harris with three counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder, discharging a firearm into a vehicle and discharging a firearm out of a vehicle last Friday. Harris was discovered on Thursday in hiding at a North Hollywood apartment. "We had an idea of where he was," Lt. Ray Steiber of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police told reporters at a news conference Thursday afternoon. "We received hundreds and hundreds of tips. Not all were good… Mr. Harris is in custody, and that's where we hope to keep him."
Since the Feb. 21 shooting, a joint LAPD-FBI task force had been engaged in an interstate manhunt to locate the shooter. Harris, who is said to have argued with Clutch (born Kenneth Cherry Jr.) outside the Aria hotel, allegedly fired the shots that caused the deceased to crash into an oncoming cab. After the collision, the cab burst into flames, leaving both the driver and passenger injured. Cherry died later from injures; the passenger in his vehicle survived.
Harris is due in court on March 4 at the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office facing extradition back to Vegas to stand trial for the criminal charges.
