Hip-hop artist Kendrick Lamar has again teamed up with Reebok to create a new sneaker design, this time to spread the message of unity.
Lamar, who is known for his political lyrics, became brand ambassador for the athletic company in 2014. With his latest sneaker design he wants to encourage people to put aside their differences and embrace community, unity and equality.
The shoe is the Reebok Club C model, and features acid-washed denim in black and white, with a red label on the tongue. The brand logo on the side is all black except for the ‘k’ and ‘o,’ which appear in red to represent Lamar’s nickname, Kdot.
“Now more than ever it is important for individuals to come together as one,” Lamar explained in the press release. “This sneaker represents that call for unity and equality, while also pushing people to look beneath the surface and uncover the hidden messages. This is something I try to do with my music, and now here with the Club C.”
The new sneaker will be released on Jan. 13 and will cost $109.99. The rapper’s past shoe designs with Reebok were a Ventilator OG sneaker in tribute to his hometown of Compton, and a Classic Leather model made to encourage peace among rival gang members, called Perfect Split.
