After releasing two singles in the past month – “The Heart Part 4” and “HUMBLE.” – Kendrick Lamar tweeted a picture of the artwork and tracklist of his upcoming album, DAMN. The album will be released on April 14.

The rapper, who is notoriously shy – unless of course, he is on the mic – captioned the image with a simple message. “DAMN. by Kendrick Lamar.

Each track is stylized in capital letters and ends in a period. No track name is more than a single word. Furthermore, each name, for the most part, seems to be steeped in religion in some way – the “HUMBLE.” music video is a cacophony of religious symbolism. Lamar is possibly continuing one of the main themes from his last album, To Pimp a Butterfly.

Although “The Heart Part 4” will not be on the album, “HUMBLE.” will be. The latter created a lot of buzz after it was released along with an accompanying music video. The single was the rapper’s highest charting song as it debuted at number two on the Billboard 100 chart this week.

Following in the footsteps of rapper J. ColeDAMN. does not have many guest features. But the features Lamar has included are both heavy hitters. Rihanna is listed on the song “LOYALTY.” and U2 is listed on the song “XXX.”

Lamar’s last album, To Pimp a Butterfly, received high acclaim and won the Grammy award for Best Rap Album. The album was heavily influenced by free jazz, spoken word, and funk and had a political message. Lamar received both applause and criticism for his political tone. DAMN. is not expected to be as political lyrically, or as avant-garde sonically.
