Kendrick Lamar Performs At Grammys in Chains
Rapper Kendrick Lamar released the fourth installment of his “The Heart” series as an Apple Music exclusive.
The track, “The Heart Part 4,” dropped at midnight last night. It is the first song off the rapper’s fourth album, which will be released later this year. Lamar teased the release by posting the Roman numeral IV on his Instagram page.
Axl Folie, The Alchemist, Syk Sense and DJ Dahi produced the song, which features some topical heated rhymes. “I’m satisfied when I strategize my kid’s future/I ain’t sanctified enough to say that I won’t shoot ya/I done vandalized the industry for a circuit/The Earthy-ist slash thirsty-ist n—-r you know, versus this scum of a lamb that transcends two surfaces,” he raps in one verse. And speaking to Donald Trump in another: “You know what time it is, ante up, this is in forever/Y’all got ’til April the 7th to get ya’ll s–t together.”
Lamar’s new full-length LP will follow up on his 2015 album To Pimp a Butterfly, which debuted at No. 1 and earned the rapper five Grammys, including best rap album.
