Kendall Schmidt, the star of Nickelodeon’s Big Time Rush, will soon be hitting the road touring with Heffron Drive – a duo he formed with fellow Big Time Rush star, guitarist Dustin. The other two members of Big Time Rush are also exploring solo projects.

Schmidt, 23, believes that Heffron Drive, named for the street upon which Schmidt and Belt met, will be able to connect with an audience in a different way than Big Time Rush. “[The fans] are not really used to seeing Big Time Rush in an intimate setting. In the last three years, we've been playing these massive venues,” Schmidt admitted. “I’m going to do my best to make the music that I'm playing understandable to everybody and not blow people's faces off.”

Heffron Drive’s music, written by Schmidt, is intended to provide an honest window into the life of the singer-songwriter. “I'm never going to be singing about 'poppin' bottles' anytime soon, or about going to the club anytime soon so most of my songs are stories about life, about love, about happiness. Some time I'm happy, sometimes not,” Schmidt told Uinterview exclusively. “I try to stay positive, and put a positive aspect in every song.”

As for Big Time Rush, which provided the springboard for his music career, Schmidt said that more can be expected for the Nickelodeon-launched boyband. “Big Time Rush is not breaking up,” Schmidt said definitively. “We really love each other. We've managed to stay really close friends while everyone is out exploring their own creative avenues. We're young and there's still time.”

Schmidt and Belt will kick off their Heffron Drive national tour in Houston on Nov. 23.
