Kelly Clarkson was hospitalized in a local Nashville hospital hours before she was scheduled to go onstage for a fundraiser – and miraculously showed up ready to perform.
When Clarkson arrived at the first annual Miracle on Broadway concert, she told the crowd, “Y’all, I spent all morning in the ER!” adding, “But don’t worry. They gave me a shot of B12 and I’m feeling great and so excited to be here!”
Clarkson did not disclose what medical ailment sent her to the emergency room.
Whatever had been troubling the American Idol alum earlier in the day wasn’t noticeable in the slightest as she powered through her vocals on several of her songs from her 2013 album, Wrapped in Red, including the album’s titular song. She also joined her mother-in-law Reba McEntire and Trisha Yearwood in a rendition of holiday classic “Silent Night.”
Garth Brooks, Kix Brooks, Ronnie Dunn,Charles Esten, Meghan Trainor, Kacey Musgraves, Martina McBride and Paramore’s Hayley Williams also performed at the event, which raised $400,000 – a sum which Brooks and Yearwood matched.
While the star power of the performers was impressive, it was Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock‘s daughter River who stole the show when she came out on the stage. “This is how River and I feel about our first annual Miracle on Broadway show!” Clarkson captioned a picture on Instagram. “It was beyond incredible thanks to all of you! More pics to come!”
