Kelly Clarkson asked a judge to change her last name after filing for divorce from her estranged husband, Brandon Blackstock.
“Petitioner requests restoration of the former name as set forth in the proposed judgment,” the court document said.
The singer filed for divorce in June 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. She asked that a judge proclaim her single and officially divorce her. In a statement to the court, Clarkson said that she and Blackstock “both deserve the opportunity to build a new life.”
Clarkson was given full custody of her 7-year-old daughter, River Rose, and her 5-year-old son, Remington Alexander.
Earlier in August, a Los Angeles County judge instructed Clarkson to pay Blackstock nearly $200,000 a month in spousal and child support.
