Kelly Clarkson Accuses Ex Brandon Blackstock’s Company Of Fraud In New Lawsuits

Kelly Clarkson is filing multiple lawsuits against soon-to-be-ex-husband Brandon Blackstock’s management company, accusing him and his father Narvel Blackstock of fraud and a violation of the California Labor Code as their divorce proceedings continue. The legal battle began shortly after Clarkson filed for divorce with Blackstock, when his own Starstruck Management Group sued Clarkson over unpaid commission fees.

The root of Clarkson’s accusations is Brandon and Narvel Blackstock are not licensed in the state of California to be agents. If true, their work with Clarkson would be in violation of the California Labor Code. In October, Clarkson filed a countersuit against Starstruck over her commission fees, claiming that the company’s violation of the code’s Talent Agencies Act meant that their agreements should be “declared void and unenforceable.” Her current lawsuit now states that her contract with Starstruck was a “fraudulent and subterfuge device” that allowed the Blackstocks “illegal services” as agents.

Clarkson has been open about how her messy divorce proceedings, which began in June, have mentally and emotionally affected her.

“I mean, it’s no secret. My life has been a little bit of a dumpster,” Clarkson said in September in an interview on Sunday Today. “Personally, it’s been a little hard the last couple months.”

Lucky for Clarkson, she had a win in court just last month after being awarded primary custody of her and Brandon’s two young children, River and Remington. Though she and Blackrock will share joint physical and legal custody of the children, Clarkson has primary physical custody in Los Angeles.
