Keith Urban’s Father, Robert Urban, Dies After Cancer Battle

Country singer Keith Urban announced the sad news today that his father, Robert Urban, has passed today after his long battle of cancer.

The current American Idol judge has stated that he is reassured that his father is in a happier place and can rest in peace after his father battled the disesases for years. “I’ve been deeply touched by the outpouring of love and support that Nicole and I, and our family, have received since my dad’s passing on Saturday night,” Urban said. “His long battle with cancer is now over and he is finally at peace.”

Earlier this week, it was reported that his father was checked into a hospice and that he had only mere “weeks to live.” Urban says of the time his father’s health was failing, “This has all come at a very strange time where it’s typical of a career that has extreme highs and extreme lows all often at the exact same time. So [the exhibit] is bittersweet a little bit because [my dad] is the catalyst for all of this. My dad is the catalyst for me living in America.”

Not much was known on what type of cancer it was or where his father was being treated for the duration of the cancer.
