Keith McNally Bans ‘Tiny Cretin’ James Corden From His Restaurants For Abusing Staff

Noted restauranteur Keith McNally took to Instagram to flame the noted comedian and late-night host James Corden for poor behavior towards servers in his New York restaurants and has even banned Corden completely.

McNally is best known as the founder of Balthazar, and also owns well known spots like Cafe Luxembourg and Minetta Tavern.

“James Corden is a Hugely gifted comedian, but a tiny Cretin of a man. And the most abusive customer to my Balthazar servers since the restaurant opened 25 years ago,” McNally began in his Instagram caption.

He then described several occurrences of Corden reacting explosively to small mistakes made by the wait staff of his restaurants on likely busy days as communicated to him by the restaurant’s managers.

The first episode happened when Corden found a hair on his plate at Balthazar.

McNally reported that Corden demanded, “Get us another round of drinks this second. And also take care of all our drinks so far. This way I [won’t] write any nasty reviews in Yelp or anything like that.”

That’s an unfortunate mistake, but it sometimes happens in a restaurant no matter how high-end it is.

Corden reportedly had another outburst while out for brunch with his wife.

After the kitchen had to remake an egg-white omelette for his wife and returned with home fries instead of a side salad, Corden allegedly started shouting, “You can’t do your job! You can’t do your job! Maybe I should go into the kitchen and cook the omelet myself!”

McNally also noted that Corden had a distinctly different attitude to the Balthazar manager than the server.

“Corden was very pleasant to him but nasty to the server,” the restauranteur added.

According to McNally, these incidents occurred in June and October of this year respectively, and he has knowledge of Corden behaving badly at Café Luxembourg once as well.

Too often, celebrities will receive preferential treatment for simply existing in a public space. This is, thankfully, not an example of a business owner bowing to their rich customers, and instead prioritizing his employees who were belittled for no good reason by Corden.
