Katy Perry gave an unwanted kiss to American Idol contestant Benjamin Glaze – and he didn’t like it.
In an interview with The New York Times, Glaze described the “uncomfortable” kiss. Before his audition in October Luke Bryan asked him, “Have you kissed a girl and liked it?” Glazed responded, “I have never been in a relationship and I can’t kiss a girl without being in a relationship.” Perry motioned to him saying, “Come here. Come here right now.” He came to table clarifying the kiss was meant to be on her cheek. The 33-year-old Perry, dissatisfied with the kiss wanted another one from at the time 19-year-old.
When he went to give her a second kiss, Perry quickly turned his head and kissed him on his lips. He stumbled backward yelling, “Katy! You didn’t!”

Glaze was saving his first kiss for his first relationship he said, “I wanted it to be special. Would I have done it if she said, ‘Would you kiss me?’ No, I would have said no.” Glaze knows that some people would have jumped at the chance to kiss Perry but he said that’s not him. “I know a lot of guys would be like, ‘Heck yeah! ‘ But for me, I was raised in a conservative family and I was uncomfortable immediately. I wanted my first kiss to be special.”
Glaze, now 20, has had some time to reflect on what happened on the show stating that it has been a “great opportunity” to get his music out. He also came to terms with the kiss, agreeing it wasn’t a real first kiss. “It was lip contact versus a romantic situation with someone you care about. That’s what a real first kiss is,” he said.
Since the episode aired, there has been backlash against Perry for kissing Glaze without consent.
