Katy Perry and Missy Elliott
Katy Perry and Dolly Parton are scheduled to sing together during the Academy of Country Music Awards next month.
Parton took some time to chat with Entertainment Tonight about what the two might perform.
“We might even merge that (Coat of Many Colors) and do a little bit of Jolene, too,” she said. “We might kinda do some of both songs, ’cause I’m actually going to do a movie of the week on Jolene, as well.”
“Katy’s wanting to do Jolene, too,” the legendary songstress added. “So, I said, ‘Well, we’ll see what we can do to kinda put the two together.'” Perry also showed her excitement for the duet when she tweeted, “?? MY PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED?? I shall remember though that I am but one sequin on this living legend’s costume!”
“I don’t know her, but I know she’s a big fan and I’ve always been so touched and moved by all the different things that she’ll say and do,” Parton also said about Perry, “but I’m really looking forward to it. Who knows, this might strike up a whole new thing!”
In addition to her performing with the “Roar” singer, Parton will be honored with the Tex Ritter Award for her 2015 TV movie Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors.
The 2016 ACM Awards will be on CBS at 8 p.m. EST on April 3.
