According to Vanderpump Rules star Katie Maloney, the fourth season of the reality TV series has all the drama that longtime fans have come to expect – but that this time around they’ll be treated to a number of different storylines.

Katie Maloney On ‘Vanderpump Rules’

For Maloney, her big storyline this year is her engagement to Tom Schwartz.

“Everyone has their own little story that sort of unfolds. Scheana and Shay have hit some little rocky patches in their marriage, Tom and I get engaged – you’ll see that,” said Maloney, adding, “I can’t give the details, because the way it happened, I was very surprised, so I think if everyone else can be surprised along the way it’ll be more magical I guess.”

When the cameras aren’t following the Vanderpump Rules stars off in their personal lives, they’re filming them at work with boss Lisa Vanderpump. Maloney admits that – to no one’s surprise – working with Vanderpump isn’t a walk in the park, as she’s known to holding herself and those around her to a high standard. But, Maloney wishes that people knew the more relaxed Lisa Vanderpump that she’s come to know – the Lisa Vanderpump who belts out duets at parties.

“Her aura, her presence, that intimidation factor, maybe, is kinda like stripped down a little bit and you just see this mother and someone who likes to have fun,” said Maloney of Vanderpump’s off-camera persona. “Lisa’s an amazing singer too. I don’t know if people knew that, but she can really belt it out…. Like there was a party, it was when Ken and Lisa renewed their vows, and afterwards her and Pandora got on the piano and sang and stuff. That was really special.”

In addition to continuing to appear on Vanderpump Rules, Maloney has branched off to start her own beauty and lifestyle blog, Pucker and Pout. The idea behind the venture was to share the beauty and lifestyle secrets she’s picked up over the years. Among Maloney’s personal beauty secret items are Maxi pads and spoons.

“I put Maxi pads in my heels,” Maloney revealed to uInterview. “It just helps add a little cushion, maybe help absorb some moisture if you have sweaty feet.” And spoons? “Using a spoon to create a nice perfect cat eye. You use like the arm of the spoon to do the wing, and then you turn the spoon to get the little curve, and that will get the nice little scoop and it’s perfect every time.”

Q: What can fans expect from the new season? -

Pretty much expect what you’ve always been expecting. I mean tons of drama, obviously, fights and tears and the usual shenanigans. This year is like definitely very spread out. There’s not just one storyline that everyone’s got their hands in, everyone has their own little story that sort of unfolds. Scheana and Shay have hit some little rocky patches in their marriage, Tom and I get engaged – you’ll see that – there’s some new faces that you’ll see and there’ll be some returning faces that maybe you didn’t think you’d see.

Q: How did your engagement come about? -

I can’t give the details, because the way it happened, I was very surprised, so I think if everyone else can be surprised along the way it’ll be more magical I guess.

Q: What is it like working for Lisa Vanderpump? -

I think it’s very much kind of what people would expect. She’s tough and she doesn’t mess around, and she’s got zero tolerance for people that slack off or don’t do their job right or mess up, or you know... But, she just is a really great person. She has a huge heart, and especially over the last like couple years, her and I have gotten a lot closer and that’s been helpful too, to be in Lisa’s good graces because it makes your job a little easier. You don’t have to be on edge. I used to be very nervous if I had to wait on her. She’d come in and I’m like standing there like a soldier, but she is an amazing woman and I wish she would like rub off on me a little bit in terms of like – she’s very business savvy, very smart, she’s witty and she’s gorgeous, obviously. She always looks perfect.

Q: Have you had any memorable moments with Lisa off-camera? -

We obviously do a lot outside the restaurant – whether that’s photoshoots or we’re doing the gay pride parade – and those moments, when she’s kind of got her guard down a little bit and she’s just laughing or teasing or something, or maybe we’re just like at PUMP and having some drinks or something, she’s just like silly. Her aura, her presence, that intimidation factor, maybe, is kinda like stripped down a little bit and you just see this mother and someone who likes to have fun. Lisa’s an amazing singer too. I don’t know if people knew that, but she can really belt it out. Her and Pandora would duet sometimes. Like there was a party, it was when Ken and Lisa renewed their vows, and afterwards her and Pandora got on the piano and sang and stuff. That was really special. Just seeing her, not that she’s not a real person, but seeing her in a setting that’s relatable and comfortable and relaxed is the best Lisa.

Q: What do you focus on on your blog? -

Pucker and Pout is a beauty and lifestyle blog. So it’s not a personal style blog. I’ve always been very fascinated and very into makeup and hair and learning how to do it better and collecting products over the years ever since I was a young girl, and so I thought I’d share all of my knowledge and everything I learned and still learning now with the world. I want it to be a place where anyone of any age can come – even men. There’s lots of like skin care stuff on there, there’s recipes for drinks or healthy foods and I want it to be like opening up a magazine, like an Allure or Glamour and really kind of keep the content diverse. So we’re hoping to keep expanding on that and get contributors to it, so we get all kinds of different personalities rolling in whether it’s for mind, body and soul, meditation, some exercise stuff and then plenty more beauty things as well.

Q: What is your personal beauty secret? -

The one that people are always kind of shocked by is I put Maxi pads in my heels. I don’t remember where I saw it. I think I was watching some daytime show and the host, and I’m like ‘I gotta try that.’ I suggest getting the pads with wings and you could stick them to your shoe better. It’ll stay, it just helps add a little cushion, maybe help absorb some moisture if you have sweaty feet. But, you could really walk around in heels all night and not be uncomfortable. It’s amazing.

Other than that, I recently learned from a friend that if you get a Vitamin E capsule and you break it and you put it on your lips, not only does it leave them really smooth, but it actually helps like plump them. I don’t know why but it’s amazing. I got a bag of tricks. Using a spoon to create a nice perfect cat eye. You use like the arm of the spoon to do the wing, and then you turn the spoon to get the little curve, and that will get the nice little scoop and it’s perfect every time. So everyone’s like, ‘I can’t get it even on both sides!’ Just use a spoon.
