Katie Couric became engaged to her financier boyfriend John Molner over Labor Day weekend after two years of dating.

Molner, 50, proposed to Couric, 56, at sunset on an East Hampton, N.Y., beach, a rep for Couric confirmed to People. Couric gladly accepted the diamond ring from her banker beau.

Couric has been a window since 1998, when her husband Jay Monahan passed away from colon cancer. Since then, the former Today show host has had a string of relationships, but none that lasted long enough to result in a proposal. Her last relationship, with businessman Brooks Perlin, ended in 2011. Perlin, 17 years Couric’s junior, was reportedly not much of a hit with her kids – Ellie, 21, and Carrie, 17.

Couric and Molner kept a relatively low profile during their early courtship, but began to make more public appearances as of late. In May, they were spotted at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Gala and again at a New York Knicks game.

“I love Midwesterners,” Couric told USA Today at the time, referring to Molner’s Chicago roots. “We’re having a great time. He’s really funny and very successful in his own right. In a different line of work. A little more age appropriate.”
