Kathy Griffin Diagnosed With Lung Cancer, To Have Half Her Lung Removed

On Monday, Kathy Griffin revealed that she was diagnosed with lung cancer in a statement on social media. Griffin, known for her reality show Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, has been nominated for six Emmy awards, winning twice in 2007 and 2008.

Griffin revealed her diagnosis in an Instagram post. She said that despite the fact that she has not smoked in her entire life, she now has lung cancer. “I’ve got to tell you guys something,” she wrote. “I have cancer. I’m about to go into surgery to have half of my left lung removed. Yes, I have lung cancer even though I’ve never smoked!”

Despite her diagnosis, Griffin stated that her doctors are bullish about her upcoming surgery. “The doctors are very optimistic as it is stage one and contained to my left lung,” she posted. “Hopefully no chemo or radiation after this and I should have a normal function with my breathing. I should be up and running around as usual in a month or less.”

Griffin confirmed that she had been fully vaccinated for COVID-19, while also urging people to get vaccinated and stay up to date with their doctors. “It’s been a helluva 4 years, trying to get back to work, making you guys laugh and entertaining you, but I’m gonna be just fine.
