Katherine Russell Tsarnaev Caught Shoplifting In 2007
Katherine Russell Tsarnaev, the wife of late Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev, reportedly has a criminal record and a mug shot from a shoplifting incident in 2007.
Russell was arrested six years ago for stealing $67 worth of merchandize from a Rhode Island Old Navy store. Although the charges were ultimately dismissed, she owed a $200 fine and was ordered to complete community service. She was 18 at the time.
The 24-year-old mother is not the only one in the Tsarnaev family to have been caught and charged with shoplifting. Her late husband's mother, Zubeidat Tsarnaeva, was arrested just last year for allegedly shoplifting from a Natick, Mass., Lord & Taylor. She fled home to Russia before the charges could be fully resolved. She reportedly stole $1,600 worth of clothing.
Russell has reportedly been working with law enforcement as they continue to investigate the details surrounding the Tsarnaev brothers' bombing at the Boston Marathon finish line. When female DNA was located on one of the bomb fragments last week, Russell allowed DNA samples to be collected from both her and her 3-year-old daughter, Zahara.
