Kate Upton, the two-time cover girl of Sports Illustrated’s famous swimsuit issue, stars in a new behind-the-scenes video modeling a tiny bikini in a very cold Antarctica.
Frolicking with penguins in the snow, Upton looks so unfazed she could have been in the middle of a heat wave instead of the freezing cold. “I’m good at pretending I’m warm,” Upton says in the video.
The behind-the-scenes peek also features the crew of the shoot, all wrapped up in layers of protective snow gear, watching Upton pose in next to nothing.
The cover girl shot to stardom almost two years ago when, at the age of nineteen, she nabbed the cover of Sports Illustrated’s annual swimsuit issue. Upton grabbed people’s attention with her curvy frame and bubbly personality – enhanced by her strategic use of social media.
Fashion guru and Victoria’s Secret model casting specialist Sophia Neophitou insulted her curvier-than-average (for a model) figure, declaring that she would never be cast in a Victoria Secret’s runway fashion show. “She’s like a footballer’s wife, with the too-blond hair and that kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy,” Neophitou told The New York Times.
Upton brushed these comments aside and seemed confident that the world of high fashion — normally populated by stick-thin body types — will eat its words in the end. “Celebrities are on the magazine covers, and nobody wanted models. But why not have a model celebrity? Why not a girl who comes with her own following? Social media brings a personality to models," Upton said. "People told me I couldn’t be fashion, that I’m just an old-fashioned body girl, only good for swimwear, but I knew that I could bring back the supermodel."
Upton may be right, as evidenced by her high-fashion June cover of Vogue.
Upton was recently spotted in New York City with dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy of Dancing With the Stars fame, though Chmerkovskiy denied any romantic involvement, claiming that the two are “just friends.”
Brown will be accompanied by guest artists Scotty McCreery, Mitchell Tenpenny, Ashley Cooke and Dasha.
