Kate Middleton made a surprise visit to Wimbledon on Sunday. This was one of her few public appearances since her cancer diagnosis.
Kate, 42, came to watch the men’s final tennis match. Her daughter Charlotte, 9, and sister Pippa joined her. When Kate entered the Royal Box, attendees stood up and greeted the Princess of Wales with a standing ovation.
As the official supporter of Wimbledon, Kate gave out trophies after the match. Carlos Alcaraz from Spain won against Novak Djokovic.
It was revealed in March that the Princess of Wales has cancer. Last month, the palace said Kate was doing better with her treatment but still needs more time to get well.
This is the second time the Princess of Wales has been seen at a major event this year. She’s been staying home to focus on her recovery.
Kate’s husband, Prince William, was not at Wimbledon. He traveled to Germany to watch England’s soccer team play in the Euros.
The palace said Kate will do fewer public events for now.
Kate became Wimbledon’s official supporter in 2016. This was a job given to her by Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away in 2022.
