After having abdominal surgery, Kate Middleton has been hospitalized and announced the delayed return to her royal responsibilities.

A statement from Kensington Palace on Wednesday revealed that Princess Kate went to the London Clinic for a scheduled abdominal surgery on Tuesday.

“The surgery was successful, and it is expected that she will remain in the hospital for 10 to 14 days, before returning home to continue her recovery,” the palace said. “Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.”

Prince William has also announced that he will not be participating in his royal duties while his wife is in recovery to take care of the couple’s three children.

Additionally, the palace requested that people respect the princess’s privacy, as her medical information will remain unavailable to the public.

“The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate,” it said in a statement. “She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private.”

They also said that she “wishes to apologize to all those concerned for the fact that she has to postpone her upcoming engagements. She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible.”

They promised to update the public whenever information becomes available, but at the moment, the palace only confirmed that the issue was not related to cancer.

Once the princess is discharged, she is planning to resume her recovery at her home in Windsor, where she and Prince William relocated to back in 2022.

The public’s interest in Middleton’s health is a positive shift from the negative press she had received about her parents’ failed party-planning business in 2023.
