Saturday Night Live comedian Kate McKinnon is set to start as Carole Baskin in the new TV series based on Netflix’s Tiger King.
Universal Content Productions has announced that an adaptation of the podcast Joe Exotic was in the works with the Saturday Night Live star, portraying Joe Exotic‘s nemesis, Carole Baskin, the animal activist head of Big Cat Rescue.
A seven-part series based on a podcast, Tiger King follows the war which erupts between Exotic and Baskin. Exotic once ran a 16-acre private zoo, which Baskin accused of animal abuses. The series elaborately spirals from there, with directors Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaiklin investigating the feud over the course of five years. Along the way, the pair encountered a wild industry of private big cat ownership in the U.S.
The plot includes murder-for-hire, a cult revolving around exotic animals and allegations of a millionaire being fed to tigers. The show is still in development currently has no network or streaming platform attached yet.
No additional castings has been announced.
Last April, it was revealed that McKinnon would portray Elizabeth Holmes in a Hulu limited series called The Dropout.
