Kate Hudson has found herself in hot water on social media after saying that “having a C-section” was the “laziest thing she had ever done.”

KATE HUDSON UNDER FIRE FOR C-SECTION COMMENT

In a recent interview with Cosmopolitan, Hudson was responding to several rapid-fire questions when she made her quick comment about her C-section. It’s possible the quip was an ill-informed joke, but regardless, people are not happy about it.

“I’ve been a fan for a long time, but I was incredibly disappointed to read your comment regarding your C-section,” one follower wrote. “How very inappropriate and insensitive.” “Your comment about c-sections was very ignorant. I had a c-section, not because I was ‘lazy’ but because after 17 hours of labor I had placenta previa and was rushed into the ER as life saving measures,” said another. One user even dissed Hudson for her parentage, saying, “So Kate Hudson thinks a C-Section is lazy? Really? I think making a celebrity of yourself only because of your parents is lazy.”

In a previous interview, however, Hudson talked openly about the birth of her eldest son Ryder. “I was going to get induced because the baby was so big. Then my hips weren’t opening, and I wasn’t dilating. I was in labor,” the actress shared. “My contractions were two to five minutes apart and I couldn’t feel anything. The doctor said I could go home, but it was such a pain in the butt to get to hospital because we were being stalked by photographers. We went in at midnight and I was like: ‘I am not going home. I just don’t want to do this again. Let’s just have a C-section.’ And so I got drugged up.”

It’s clear that, within the context of her story, Hudson meant that she opted for a C-section because she was too lazy to drive home and then back to the hospital, not because having a C-section itself is a lazy thing to do. But many people only read the short answer to the Cosmo question, and are angry. Hudson or her reps have yet to comment.
