Karen Gillan To Star In Upcoming ‘Jumanji’ Sequel Film

Actress Karen Gillan has been announced to play the role of Martha in the Jumanji sequel due out next year.

KAREN GILLAN SET TO STAR AS MARTHA IN JUMANJI

GIllan, known for her roles on Doctor Who and Guardians of the Galaxy, will star alongside Dwayne “The Rock” JohnsonKevin HartJack Black, and Nick Jonas. The film is being described, not as a reboot or remake of the 1995 classic, but as a continuation of the original Jumanji, which starred the late Robin Williams.

This completes the casting puzzle for this film, which will begin production in Hawaii next month.

News of Gillan’s casting came first from an Instagram post from the Rock, which can be read below.

Among many kind words, he said Gillan was a girl with “Chutzpah” and “guts, nerve and talent to stand her ground and hold her own.”

The film is directed by Jake Kasdan, and its current release date is July 28, 2017.
