Kanye West Temporarily Banned On Twitter & Instagram After Antisemitic Posts

After being barred from his Instagram account, Kanye West was apparently trying to set a world record for being suspended from the most platforms for egregious statements.

He has been facing criticism after wearing a “White Lives Matter” shirt at a show at Paris Fashion Week.

Before his posts were removed and he wasn’t able to continue tweeting, West sent out several deranged and disgusting tweets about Jewish people that we won’t be platforming here. He also accused people like Sean “Diddy” Combs, who criticized his shirts, of being ordered by Jewish people behind-the-scenes to criticize him.

The concept that Jewish people are pulling the strings in media, business and politics is a an old and sinister antisemitic trope. As far back as times like The Black Plague, Jews were used as scapegoats for the proliferation of that disease. Conspiracies connecting Jews to the control of banks and money first cropped up in the 19th century and were central to the platforms of prominent antisemitic movements like the Nazis.

It’s unclear if West has been permanently banned from Twitter or he is just prevented from posting for a short time. He had taken aim at Mark Zuckerberg in a few of his tweets for apparently banning him from Instagram, which is owned by Meta.

West also sat recently for an interview with Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who has promoted several racist conspiracies like the Great Replacement theory and conspiracies about the January 6 Capitol Riots. While on the show, West insulted people like Barack Obama, the late fashion designer Virgil Abloh, and the singer Lizzo.

Hopefully, platforms will take note of this behavior and issue him much more permanent bans, but given that Twitter will soon be in the hands of “free speech champion” Elon Musk, that may not be very likely.
