Kanye West Pays $33,000 To Appear On Oklahoma Presidential Ballot Day After Advisor Says ‘He’s Out’ Of Race

A day after an advisor to Kanye West announced that “he’s out” of the 2020 election, West has filed to appear on the Oklahoma presidential ballot, leaving fans confused as to whether West will actually run or not. Oklahoma is the first state where West has met the requirements as he has missed the deadline in several states.

An Oklahoma Board of Elections spokeswoman Misha Mohr explained that on Wednesday, which is the deadline to get on the ballot in the state of Oklahoma, a representative for West paid the $33,000 fee required to file. She then stated that West is one of three independent candidates that would appear on Oklahoma’s ballot. The other two include Brock Pierce, who is a cryptocurrency entrepreneur, and Jade Simmons, a concert pianist.

The day before this, West’s advisor Steve Kramer told New York Magazine that “he’s out” of the race. He added, “I have nothing good or bad to say about Kanye. Everyone has their personal decision about why they make decisions. Running for president has to be one of the hardest things for someone to actually contemplate at that level.”

Kramer had been trying to get signatures in support of West in Florida and South Carolina. He explained, “We had overwhelming support to get him on the ballot.”

Also on Wednesday, the West campaign had filed a “Statement of Organization” with the Federal Election Commission, the file states that a Kanye 2020 committee would play an important role if a West candidacy were to occur.

West had originally announced a potential president run on Twitter on July 4 when he tweeted, “We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States ! #2020VISION.”

Many speculated that West was running in order to help President Donald Trump get a second term in office by taking black and young voters away from probable Democratic candidate Joe Biden. However, West told Forbes that even though he is known to be a good friend of Trump’s he no longer supports the president.
