The rap superstar formerly known as Kanye West has officially changed his name to Ye, with no middle or last name.
A Californian judge approved the request for the name change. “There being no objections, the petition for change of name is granted,” Judge Michelle Williams Court said in court documents.
Ye has been his social media name for years and the moniker of his 2018 album. He has previously said in interviews that it’s a shortening of his former first name that he likes and is a term that appears in the Bible.
Ye is currently in the middle of a divorce with Kim Kardashian West, who will not be changing her last name back to just Kardashian.
