It was a good year in music if your name started with K. Kanye West and Katy Perry topped the charts this year with their acclaimed albums, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and Teenage Dream, respectively.
Perry's "Teenage Dream" song became the year's top-selling single, selling more than 4.1 million copies. She also nabbed headlines for her October wedding in India to comedian Russell Brand and for her controversial guest spot on Sesame Street.
West, who began the year in hiding after his 2009 meltdown involving Taylor Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards, has received nearly universal acclaim for his fifth studio album. With a joint album with Jay-Z, Watch the Throne, and a rumored tour with Lil Wayne and Drake in 2011, West will likely post two chart-topping years in a row.
Swift was wildly successful in 2010 as well, winning four Grammys in February before going on to sell more than 1 million copies of her third album, Speak Now, in its first week of release. Also posting excellent years were Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars and the cast of FOX's Glee, in a list compiled by USA Today. —ISHITA SINGH
