Kanye West‘s latest rant wasn’t on Twitter, but it did mention one of his favorite subjects – Taylor Swift.
West was at 1OAK in Los Angeles earlier this week where Yo Gotti was releasing his album when he commandeered the mic. He took the chance before the crowd to maintain that Swift had given with the ok about that line in “Famous” that refers to him having sex with her.
“I called Taylor! I played her the line… I said, ‘Look, Taylor, I spoke to my wife about it.’ I said, ‘How do you feel about this line, Taylor?’ I was like, ‘Taylor, I feel like me and you might still have sex,’” West said. “She was like, ‘Oooh, Kanye, I like that line.'”
West went on to go off on Swift for her acceptance speech upon winning the Album of the Year Grammy. In what most interpreted as a swipe at West and his line about her in “Famous,” Swift had said, “As the first woman to win Album of the Year at the Grammys twice, I want to say to all the young women out there, there will be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame.”
West shouted in 1OAK about the speech, “She won her award, and she says something completely different. She’s not cool no more. She had two seconds to be cool. And she f–ked it up!”
On “Famous,” West raps, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/Why? I made that b—h famous/God damn,” he raps on the track. “I made that b—h famous.” Not long after the song made its debut at West’s Yeezy 3 fashion show, reps for Swift claimed he did not get her approval.
In response, West took to Twitter to defend himself.
“I did not diss Taylor Swift and I’ve never dissed her…,” West began his explanation. “First thing is I’m an artist and as an artist I will express how I feel with no censorship. 2nd thing I asked my wife for her blessings and she was cool with it. 3rd thing I called Taylor and had a hour-long convo with her about the line and she thought it was funny and gave her blessings. 4th B—h is an endearing term in hip hop like the word Ni–a.”
“5th thing I’m not even gone take credit for the idea… it’s actually something Taylor came up with …,” West continued. “She was having dinner with one of our friends who’s name I will keep out of this and she told him. I can’t be mad at Kanye because he made me famous! #FACTS.”
