Kanye West hit back at Issa Rae over the weekend after she made a joke on Saturday Night Live about his odd campaign for president.

The celebrity host played a NAACP lawyer on a made-up news show called Your Voice Chicago hosted by Kenan Thompson. Her character said she was committed to “voting for everybody Black,” a reference to Rae’s 2017 Emmy Awards comment that she was “rooting for everybody Black.”

At the end of the sketch, Thompson’s character announces that when they come back from commercial break they’ll be talking about “the presidential race between Donald Trump, Joe Biden and Kanye West.” Rae’s character responds “Kanye? F him!” while rolling her eyes.

West responded to the reference on Twitter, writing, “Ive always said SNL uses black people to hold other black people back My heart goes out to Issa Rae I’m praying for her and her family I know that the twenty years of service that I’ve paid in the entertainment field has furthered our ability to be more successful.” The tweet was followed with a screenshot of Rae’s Google results page in Spanish.

West announced he was running for president late in the campaign cycle, on July 4. West qualified to appear on the ballot in only 12 states on the Birthday Party line, though he urged his fans in other states to vote for him as a write-in candidate. Many experts believe is running to help his friend President Donald Trump win re-election by draining black votes away from Joe Biden.
