Kanye West, Frank Ocean Top 2013 Grammy Nominations
The Grammy nominations were revealed through a televised concert on CBS last night, and there was plenty of love to go around, as six artists finished with six nominations apiece: Kanye West, Jay-Z, Frank Ocean, Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys, Mumford & Sons and fun.
Auerbach’s band is up for five awards, while he himself is also nominated for a Producer of The Year award. New York rock group fun. received nominations for best song, album, new artist and record. Jeff Bhasker, the band’s producer, has four nominations as producer and will go up against Auerbach for Producer of the Year. Among his six nominations, Ocean’s debut album, Channel Orange, received a nomination for Album of The Year. His song, “Thinking of You,” is up for Record of the Year.
Among the notable snubs were Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga. Scooter Braun, Bieber’s manager, took to Twitter to express his displeasure over the news. “…this time there wont be any wise words, no excuses, I just plain DISAGREE. The kid deserved it. Grammy board u blew it on this one. the hardest thing to do is transition, keep the train moving. the kid delivered. Huge succesful album, sold out tour, and won people over… this time he deserved to be recognized and I dont really have any kind nice positive things to say about a decision i dont agree with.”
The winners will be revealed on Feb. 10, 2013, in Los Angeles, Calif.
