Kanye West Faces New Lawsuit For Punching Autograph Seeker In 2022

Kanye West finds himself entangled in a legal battle after an incident with an autograph seeker in 2022 for allegedly punching a fan who approached him for his signature.

Justin Poplawski, a respected autograph dealer, approached West in Los Angeles in January 2022 and requested his autograph.

Poplawski claims that the artist responded aggressively and yelled expletives and threats, which included references to his divorce from Kim Kardashian. The altercation escalated when West punched Poplawski multiple times, which resulted in severe injuries. The incident occurred while Poplawski and his wife, Tiffany Marshall, were lawfully present on public property. The couple filed a lawsuit against West and cited assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligence.

Footage of the incident showed Poplawski on the ground while West yelled over him. The police conducted an investigation at the time but ultimately chose not to press charges against the musician. The Los Angeles City Attorney’s office stated, “After a thorough and careful review of all the evidence, our office is declining to file based on no reasonable likelihood of conviction.”

In addition to the ongoing legal matter, West has faced allegations of antisemitism. In December, he was caught on camera delivering a rant about Jewish people while in Las Vegas. After the incident, West took to social media to issue an apology to the Jewish community in Hebrew.

However, many individuals have questioned the sincerity of the apology. Speculation arose that West’s apology was prompted by external factors, such as the need to clear a sample for an upcoming album.

West recently listed his “bomb shelter” Malibu home, which has no doors, windows or HVAC, for $53 million.
