Kanye West wanted everyone standing during his tour stop in Australia Friday night, not realizing that a fan he was waiting on to rise was handicapped.
West refused to continue his show at Sydney’s Qantas Credit Union Arena until every last person in the audience had gotten on their feet. "I can't do this show until everybody stand up," West insisted "Unless you got a handicap pass, and you get special parking and s–t."
At least one person who neglected to stand at the rapper’s command was in a wheelchair. Pointing, West asked of one of the fans to clarify, "Is he in a wheelchair?" Still not convinced, West continued to pace the stage saying, “It’s literally two people left.”
He added, “This is the longest I’ve had to wait. Now, if he’s in a wheelchair it’s fine. Only if he’s in a wheelchair.”
Finally, a person in the audience managed to convince West that the person he’d been pointing at previously was indeed wheelchair-bound and physically incapable of standing up as had been asked of him. Relenting, West continued on with the show, but not before his behavior sparked ire in the stadium.
