The rapper and presidential candidate Kanye West has conceded his loss the 2020 election. The Birthday Party candidate receiving only around 60,000 votes. West has already announced that he’s running for candidacy in the 2024 election cycle.
Like many other celebrities, West took to social media to reflect on voting in the November presidential elections – he wrote in his own name and that of his running mate, Michelle Tidball, a preacher and therapist. West tweeted an image of himself casting his ballot and announced in the caption, “The first vote of my life We are here to serve We pray for every servant leader in the world.”
Later that same day, when voting results were slowly being announced, the rapper tweeted a now-deleted “WELP,” which many took as a sign of his acceptance of his defeat. The next day, West tweeted “Kanye 2024,” suggesting that he will be running for office once more during the next presidential election.
West failed to meet signature deadlines in some states, leading him to only appear on only 12 state ballots: Arkansas, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Utah, Tennessee, Kentucky, Louisiana and Vermont. Members of his own family have not endorsed the Grammy winner, though his wife, Kim Kardashian, did say she had cast her own ballot on an Instagram post.
West has courted controversy recently over his support of President Donald Trump and public Twitter rants regarding his marriage’s deterioration, his consideration of aborting his first child and accusations that Kardashian had been unfaithful with rapper Meek Mill.
