Kanye West was booed yet again after going on a mid-concert rant about the fashion industry during his London’s Wireless fest performance.
West’s newest 20-minute lecture came Friday night during the rapper’s set at Finsbury Park. Standing in front of the crowd in his bejeweled face mask, West began preaching to the audience about his foray into the fashion industry and how he struggles to be taken seriously.
“I’m not going to mention any names but… Nike, Louis Vuitton and Gucci. Don’t discriminate against me ‘cos I’m a black man making music,” West allegedly told the crowd.
West previously designed shoes for Nike and had a very public falling out with the famous sneaker brand, claiming that Nike refused to pay him royalties because he wasn’t a professional athlete. Now, West is in a partnership with Adidas. In fall of 2013, West also ranted against Louis Vuitton after they refused to meet with him during Paris fashion week. Recently, West tweeted out a few photos from his A.P.C. Kanye clothing line.
According to reports, West went on for 20 minutes, and by the end of his rant, many attendees had left, and those that remained were booing loudly. Throughout his rant, West reportedly spoke about the dangers of media and the nature of celebrity.
“They taking the idea of celebrity and make me seem like I was stupid or something… I just want to be awesome and hang around my awesome friends and change the world,” West said.
West took the stage at London’s Wireless Festival again on Saturday night after Drake was forced to pull out as headliner due to illness. According to reports, West again stopped his performance to rant about the media and defend himself against those that wrote that he was booed the night before.
“The media wrote that people booed and you know what, I’m not going to lie, I’m not invincible… It hurt me a little bit because I knew how much of a good time that everyone had. I’m sorry that I’m not a complete belligerent a—hole that I normally am, but I will be back,” West told the crowd.
