At Fast Company’s Innovation Festival last week, Kanye West, 42, announced that he plans on running for president in 2024, or rather “walking” for president.
“I’m not going to run, I’m going to walk. What they’re saying is Kanye’s crazy — ,” the rapper said.

During his interview, he further addressed race issues in America. He mentioned that one of three African Americans were in jail and discussed how African American voters, and African Americans in general, are unfairly treated as a demographic. If elected, the 21 Grammy-winner promised he would create more jobs for people. He said may no longer be referred to as Kanye West, as he teased he may end up changing his name by then. “I might change my name to Christian Genius Billionaire Kanye West for a year until ya’ll understand exactly what it is,” he said.
He also thanked his family for being his greatest motivation in all his efforts and success.
“I think if my family wasn’t so … if they didn’t work so hard and they weren’t so omnipresent, maybe I would just rest on my laurels of just being the greatest artist of human existence, and that would just be enough. But that’s shown that that is not enough,” he explained.
