Steve Kramer, who has acted as an advisor for Kanye West, revealed that West would no longer be making an attempt to run for president during the 2020 election. After causing a lot of controversy, Kramer told New York Magazine that “he’s out.”
Kramer explained that while the deadline to appear on the ballot had passed in several states, he had been working in Florida and South Carolina in order to get signatures for West to be able to run. He said, “We had overwhelming support to get him on the ballot.”
He added, “I have nothing good or bad to say about Kanye. Everyone has their personal decision about why they make decisions. Running for president has to be one of the hardest things for someone to actually contemplate at that level.”
Kramer also hinted that West might consider trying to run again, as “any candidate running for president for the first time goes through these hiccups.”
West had originally announced his presidential run on July 4. He tweeted, “We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States ! #2020VISION.”
Many speculated that the reasoning behind this was to help President Donald Trump get re-elected by taking young and black voters. West was known to be good friends with Trump until he revealed in Forbes interview that he no longer supports him. West rejected this theory by saying, “I’m not denying it, I just told you. To say that the black vote is Democratic is a form of racism and white supremacy… like anything I’ve ever done in my life, I’m doing to win.”
