A mass shooting occurred during a parade celebrating the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl win on Wednesday in Kansas City, Missouri.
The shooting left one woman dead and over 20 others injured, eight in critical condition. The deceased has been identified as Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a radio DJ and known figure in the Kansas City Hispanic community.
Lopez-Galvan worked for KKFI 90.1 FM and was the host of “Taste of Tejano.” She had a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was transported to the hospital for surgery where she passed away. Lopez-Galvan, 44, was a married mother of two. A friend of her’s confirmed her death to the local newspaper.
Lopez-Galvan’s brother, Beto Lopez, made a statement about her death.
“We woke up this morning excited and the last thing we ever expected was to have a tragedy in our family . . . She was dearly loved in this community and gave a lot back.”
Authorities have arrested three people in connection to the shooting. Reports say the shooting was the result of a personal dispute. No evidence of terrorism has been found.
