An embarrassing typo has tarnished the Kansas City Chiefs’ celebratory Super Bowl LVIII championship rings. The highly anticipated rings, designed to commemorate the team’s historic victory, have been found to feature an incorrect seeding label for one of their playoff opponents.
The rings, which boast an impressive display of 529 diamonds and 38 rubies totaling 14.8 carats, were meant to be a source of pride for the franchise and its passionate fanbase. Still, a closer inspection has revealed that the interior of the rings mistakenly lists the Miami Dolphins as the No. 7 seed when, in reality, they were the No. 6 seed.
This is not the first time the Chiefs have been on the receiving end of a typo-related mishap. The organization has faced similar issues in the past, but this particular oversight is sure to be a hard pill to swallow, as the rings are meant to be a lasting symbol of their championship triumph.
The intricate design of the rings includes considerable symbolism, such as a diagram of the game-winning “Tom and Jerry” play and a miniature field customized to reflect each player’s number of Lombardi Trophy wins. Additionally, the interior features the signatures of the team members and a list of the opponents they defeated in the postseason.
The Kansas City Chiefs have cemented their legacy as one of the NFL’s premier franchises and secured victory in four Super Bowls they have competed in. Their championship wins spanned from Super Bowl IV in 1970 to their triumph at Super Bowl LVIII.
The Chiefs recently visited the White House where star receiver Travis Kelce joked he was afraid he would be tased by the Secret Service. Star quarterback Patrick Mahomes just announced that he had restructured his massive $210 million contract to make it even richer.
