Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting, who got engaged after only three months of dating, were married on The Ellen Show at the host’s suggestion on Thursday.
Believing that Cuoco and Sweeting were in favor of having an engagement as short as their courtship, Ellen DeGeneres took it upon herself to provide a wedding for the two on her show. Enlisting her head writer, who happens to be an ordained minister, and providing a veil, DeGeneres asked the Big Bang Theory actress if she was ready to tie the knot.
“We have this ready. Should you choose – we can do it,” DeGeneres told Cuoco.“It will save you so much money. You can dance afterward,” the host continued, adding that musical guest The Wanted would be more than happy to play for them. She even offered to walk Cuoco down the aisle herself.
Cuoco gamely agreed to participate in the mock wedding, donning the veil and clunky necklace before meeting Sweeting and the minister. Sweeting, appearing to be slightly concerned that it wasn’t all a stunt asked, “Is this legal?” just before the swapping of vows.
Prior to the faux-nuptials, Cuoco opened up about her fast-tracked romance with the professional tennis player. It all started with a set up that Cuoco wasn’t exactly eager to go along with but is thrilled that she did. “So we go and have a dinner date and we’re still on our first date. He never went home,” Cuoco said giggling. “You know by day two I was like, ‘Oh my god.’ It was so unbelievable. I said, ‘This is it, this is it.’”
After the pair was spotted together a number of times over the summer months – at the Launch of Vatulele Island Resort, at his tennis matches, at Moorpark horse ranch, out to lunch in West Hollywood – Sweeting popped the question on Sept. 25. Cuoco later took to Twitter to write, “Flying high, I could literally touch the sky with you…”
