Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau wants a rematch with Matthew Perry after the latter revealed he used “beat up” Justin at school.
The Friends star shared on Jimmy Kimmel Live last month that he’d attended the same school as Trudeau but was a few years older than the future prime minister.
He also decided to tell “a story of him that I’m not proud of.”
The actor revealed that he would lash out at Trudeau, who was a better athlete than him. He also shared that his friend joined in on the fight.
“My friend Chris Murray, who was also in the fifth grade in Canada, reminded me that we actually beat up Justin Trudeau. We both beat him up,” Perry said.
“I think he was excelling in a sport that we weren’t [as good at]. It was pure jealousy, and, you know, we beat him up. His dad [Pierre Trudeau] was prime minister, but that wasn’t the reason we beat him up. I think he was the only kid in school that we could beat up.”
Perry said he regretted his actions. “I’m not bragging about this, I was a stupid kid, it’s terrible, I didn’t want to beat him up,” he told Kimmel.
“But I think it was rather instrumental in him going to such great heights and becoming Prime Minister. I think he said, ‘I’m going to rise above this, and I’m going to become Prime Minister,” Perry added.
This prompted Trudeau to ask for a “rematch” on Twitter yesterday.
Since Trudeau posted the tweet on April 1, the Prime Minister was most likely making a joke. Perry has not responded yet, but if he does, the results promise to be quite interesting.
