Justin Timberlake’s aunt, Jane Harless, has been arrested for allegedly stealing $64,000 from Timberlake’s mother, Lynn Bomar Harless, and stepfather, Paul Harless.
Jane is reportedly suspected of having committed fraud, writing herself checks and forging her brother’s signature from 2011-2013 resulting in $64,700 from a reported 121 checks.
Jane previously worked for her brother, but was not working for him at the time of the alleged fraud.
“Some of the family members noticed some discrepancies and then it was sort of easy from that point to sort of see exactly what happened,” Chip Washington from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, which arrested Jane, said.
Paul Harless is a business partner of Timberlake’s for Mirimichi golf course – the golf complex Timberlake opened in 2009. Both Timberlake and Harless are big golfers.
“Doesn’t matter who you are, doesn’t matter who you’re related to. You break the law, you pay for it,” Washington continued.
Timberlake has not released a comment on the arrest and is currently gearing up for the premiere of his new film Runner Runner, co-staring Ben Affleck.
Timberlake has also been busy touring for his newest album The 20/20 Experience and participated in a sketch on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon which aired on Tuesday.
Runner Runner opens in theaters Oct. 4.
