Justin Martin, ‘High School Musical’ Actor, Arrested Following Shootout With Boston Police

Justin Martin, the High School Musical 3 actor, was arrested in Boston Wednesday after a shootout with police.

Justin Martin Arrested

Martin was allegedly spotted running down a street in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston with a gun in hand after officers heard gunfire. Police pursued Martin, 21, after he allegedly pulled a gun on them, reported The Wrap. A second suspect then fired on officers, according to a police report.

In response to the gunfire, police shot at Martin and the second suspect, but did not hit either party. They were both taken into custody after police reportedly found a .22 caliber handgun on Martin and a .25 caliber handgun on the second suspect, described as a juvenile male.

“Our officers put their life on the line every night, and it’s just way too many guns out there,” said Boston Police Commissioner William Evans. “I think we have appealed to the public to help us here, and tonight exhibits the challenge we face nightly out here on the streets.”

Martin was arraigned for unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon for allegedly pointing a gun at police. Martin, who pleaded not guilty on the assault charges, is being held on $35,000 cash bail.

In addition to The Disney Channel’s High School Musical, Martin has also appeared in features Flight with Denzel Washington and The Soloist with Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr. He’s also made guest appearances in TV series Blue Bloods, Eye Candy and Cold Case.
