Justin Bieber shared and then deleted a tweet about meeting with the President of Mexico prior to playing a concert in Mexico City on Monday after the president’s office took to Twitter to deny the encounter.
"Just met some amazing mexican beliebers and the presidente of mexico and his familia,” Bieber wrote on Monday, referring to President Enrique Pena Nieto and his family. The “Baby” singer did perform in front of a sold out crowd of thousands, but Nieto himself was not one of them.
President Nieto's office put out a tweet late Monday that loosely translates to: "@Presidenciamx denies meeting between President @EPN with the singer @justinbieber."
La @Presidenciamx desmiente reunión del Titular del Ejecutivo @EPN con el cantante @justinbieber.

Following the tweet by Nieto’s staff, Bieber took to Twitter to issue a correction on his earlier post, explaining that he only met the president’s family.
*correction. I met the presidente's family and all their friends in the private meet and greet with all their security. They were very nice

On Tuesday, Bieber once again wanted to clear the air following his latest international gaffe, pleading with his followers to not believe everything they read about him in the tabloids. He also reassured them that he can withstand the scruity.
A lot of things get said about me. So many things not true. And it hurts especially that people believe it. But I got all of u so…

Bieber also addressed the frequency in which his name appears in the headlines in his recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter – his first sit down in nine months. He claims that the media are more concerned with the money they can make, than potentially tarnishing a reputation.
"When people see a negative thing about me on a magazine, they're gonna buy it. Every time some site writes something bad, all my followers go on there, and it brings them more traffic," he said. "Now they have all the Beliebers on their site, which gives them money from advertisers. They're just worried about money. They don't care about ruining someone's name. “
Bieber, who released his latest single “PYD” on Monday, will next perform in New Zealand and Australia for the final leg of his Believe tour.
