Justin Bieber: Pop's Most Dangerous Diva

by Joe Galbo • At this point in history, there are very few celebrities famous enough to cause riots. In fact there’s only one. And, he is a 12-year-old. Justin Bieber, The Most Dangerous Diva in Show Business.

On Sunday in Sydney, Australia, over 4,000 Bieber fans were waiting for the pop-star to arrive and sing three songs on an early-morning news program Sunrise. Gripped by the anticipation of seeing the singer perform such classics as "Baby" and "One Time," they pushed their way toward the stage when it was announced (at 2 am) that Bieber had arrived in Australia. As the morning went on, the host of the event continued to mention Bieber’s name which each time sent the crowed into a frenzy. When they began playing Bieber’s music the crowd surged forward crushing the girls at the front. The host begged the crowd to take "two steps back" or else the show would be canceled, but his pleas fell on deaf ears.

In total, police pulled 100 girls that were being crushed by the crowd out of the pile, ten girls were treated for fainting, and two were sent to the hospital with more serious injuries. In an attempt to avert a catastrophe, the cops called off the show and Bieber had to settle for performing one song in a studio.

If this all sounds a little crazy to you, then you’d be surprised to find out that this isn’t the first time Bieber has caused a riot. The video below is a news report from an appearance that Bieber was supposed to make at the Roosevelt Mall on Long Island, New York. As you can see, the event had to be canceled since about 1,000 girls showed up and organizers were worried that the second floor railings would collapse and send teenyboppers plummeting to their deaths. (Irate mother at 1:18 is definitely worth watching.)

Watch it now:

This is only a continuation of the insanity that has come to follow Bieber wherever he goes. Even his birthday party was prepped for mayhem. According to a TMZ report, Bieber’s 16th birthday party invitations included a waiver that stated, "I fully understand my/minor’s participation may involve risk or serious injury or death. I certify that my/minor is in good health and have no physical condition that would prevent participation in the activity." Death? At a Bieber birthday party? That’s a little intense for the artist famous for

Reports of Bieber’s fame going to his head stem from a New York Post report that claimed Bieber stopped at a McDonalds on his way to a press meeting and performance at a New York middle school. The stop caused him to be over two hours late for the press meeting, and an hour late for the performance. As far as diva behavior goes this isn’t exactly hotel trashing, but the accusation was serious enough to get a response from Bieber who took to his Twitter page to set things straight.

"It’s funny when I read things about myself that are just not true. Why would certain people take time out of their day to hate on a 16 year old? I have an idea for those people…let’s all be supportive of each other and proud of one another and hope for the best for your neighbor."

Twitter seems to be a huge tool of Bieber’s as he often tweets his followers, asking them to request his songs and buy his album. His fans tweet about him so often he has become a seemingly never ending trending topic on Twitter. He even uses the site to address his many haters out there: "to all the haters out there i wish u the best. U cant bring me down. I wake up everyday grateful 4 the opportunity and grateful to the fans"

If one thing is clear it’s that the fans are certainly grateful for him. Bieber’s crowds have already been compared to those of The Beatles and his album sales show no signs of slowing down. The world has a fever. And the only prescription is more Bieber, baby.
