Justin Bieber and Major Lazer released their new single “Cold Water” on Friday — after teasing about the collaboration earlier this year.
The “Cold Water” track also features popular danish singer MØ, who worked with Major Lazer on the hit single “Lean On.”
Diplo, the producer behind Major Lazer, provided his familiar electronic pop sound to the track, teaming up with Bieber once again following their collaboration on hit song “Where Are U Now.”
Back in May, Bieber took to Twitter to tease fans about working on new music with Diplo. “@diplo when are we bringing this new music?” Bieber tweeted.
Diplo tweeted back that he was working on the artwork for the track and added that the song is fire.
“Cold Water” was co-written by Ed Sheeran and Benny Blanco — the lyrics appear to reflect on Bieber’s past mistakes and turning his life around.
“Everybody gets high sometimes ya know / Cause we all get lost sometimes you know / It’s how we learn and grow,” Bieber sings along to the up-tempo moombahton beat.
