Justin Bieber may be a 16-year-old pop sensation, but he takes the whole thing in stride, one fan found out in an interview with the singer.
The teenage heartthrob was straightforward on the topic of his humble YouTube beginnings. "I just started posting videos online," he said on a Wednesday segment of The Early Show. "And then it just got to the point where they wanted to move me out to Atlanta and start recording songs." When his manager, Scooter Braun, introduced him to recording artist Usher, a star was born. Bieber spoke fondly of his mentor. "I call him all the time," he said of Usher. "I ask for advice. We hang out. He's probably the closest person to me in the music business."
Bieber is aware that there are many female fans who would like to be "the closest person" to him, and he's not complaining. "It's great, you know," he said of the attention he gets from his adoring fans. "I'm sixteen, and I love girls," he added.
Bieber's fans will have even more to celebrate on February 11, when the movie about his meteoric rise to fame, Never Say Never, is released in theaters. —KIMBERLY STEELE
