Justin Bieber & Girlfriend Hailey Baldwin Reportedly Engaged In The Bahamas

After just weeks of rekindling an old flame, Justin Bieber and model Hailey Baldwin reportedly got engaged over the weekend.

Reports indicate that Bieber, 24, proposed to Baldwin, 21, in the Bahamas on Saturday. Two eyewitnesses say they saw Bieber go down on one knee at a resort restaurant.

The two briefly dated in 2015 and 2016, sparking things up again about a month ago.

“It’s kind of a surprise, but kind of not. Justin has been extremely happy these past few weeks,” a source told People. “He has known Hailey for a long time. This might seem sudden, but they know each other very well.”

 

Additionally, it appears as though her father, Stephen Baldwin, confirmed the engagement in a since-deleted tweet.

Bieber’s father, Jeremy, also joined in on the excitement, seemingly affirming the proposal.

A source told E! News the model was pleasantly surprised by the sudden proposal.

“Justin made arrangements for the ring when they were in NYC and knew that he wanted to propose to her. It was a sudden decision but Justin always knew Hailey and him had a special bond that was incomparable,” the source said. “The proposal was a very happy moment and Hailey was taken off guard. Her face was in shock but you could tell they are both so in love.”

Pattie Mallette, Bieber’s mom, tweeted a brief message on Sunday likely in reference to the engagement.

In 2016, Bieber told GQ magazine he didn’t want to hurt Baldwin after their breakup during the same year.

“What if Hailey ends up being the girl I’m gonna marry, right? If I rush into anything, if I damage her, then it’s always gonna be damaged. It’s really hard to fix wounds like that. It’s so hard … I just don’t want to hurt her,” he said.

However, Baldwin was recently romantically-linked to singer Shawn Mendes after accompanying him to the Met Gala in May while Bieber was spotted with ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez in March.
