Justin Bieber gave a four and a half-hour deposition in Miami on Friday for the lawsuit in which his bodyguard stands accused of beating up a paparazzo at Bieber’s behest.
20-year-old Bieber gave his critics plenty of ammunition in the video of the deposition, which was obtained by TMZ. Not only is the singer unfailingly rude and arrogant, he disses his mentor Usher and mistakenly calls himself “detrimental” to his singing career.
Bieber wasn’t impressed by the lawyer sitting across from him during the deposition. At one point, he said, "I don't have to listen to anything you have to say.” After listening to another question he didn’t like, Bieber replied, "Guess what? I do not recall." When he felt like the questions were veering away from the matter at hand, he referred to the lawyer as Katie Couric and stated, “This seems like a 60 Minutes interview.”
Responding barely audibly “yeah” to a question, the court reporter at the deposition asked Bieber if he could repeat himself. "Yes and no are f–king pretty, pretty different," Bieber swore at him.
When Bieber was first asked about his on-again-off-again girlfriend Selena Gomez, he didn’t hesitate to admit that he loved her. He wouldn’t, however, tolerate further questions about her, including whether or not he shared with her his feelings about paparazzi and if they were dating. He repeated, “Don’t ask me about her again” until his attorney accused the lawyer of harassing his client and stormed out of the room with Bieber.
The pop star feigned ignorance when the lawyer asked him if he knew “Raymond Usher IV” and said “that sounds familiar” when the lawyer referred to him as the “entertainer by the name of Usher.” He acknowledged that Usher was a friend and confidant who’d been helpful in his career, but took most of the credit himself.
“I was found on YouTube. I think I was detrimental to my own career,” he said, before his lawyers chimed in to state that Bieber had meant to say instrumental – not detrimental.
